The Hollywood Professional Association (HPA) recently honored the world-renowned software DaVinci Resolve 15 with the 2018 Engineering Excellence Award . This award is a prestigious recognition for technically outstanding and creatively sophisticated software in the fields of media, content production, finishing, and distribution. DaVinci Resolve 15 will soon be in use at Panda Pictures, so we would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to DaVinci Resolve and its latest improvements.

DaVinci Resolve – much more than just color grading
Since its inception, DaVinci Resolve has been known as the world-famous tool for professional color grading. However, over the last few years, Blackmagic Design has steadily expanded its flagship software with new features, transforming it into a multifunctional tool. Today, it is used not only by color grading artists, but also by editors and sound designers. With version 15, visual effects artists can now also enjoy the benefits of Fusion.
It is no wonder, then, that in areas such as cinema advertising, corporate films, TV commercials or even a Hollywood feature film, the name DaVinci Resolve has become indispensable. And with the latest version 15, there is now one more great reason for DaVinci Resolve's acclaim.
The all-in-one tool DaVinci Resolve
Since the fall of 2017, the current version, DaVinci Resolve 14, has included Fairlight as a new tool for professional audio post-production integrated. Just over six months later, Blackmagic Design presented the brand-new version 15 of their software flagship at the NAB Show in Las Vegas. In this major upgrade, the compositing software Fusion is now the latest addition to be integrated into DaVinci Resolve 15. As a result, DaVinci Resolve 15 now combines editing, color grading, and audio with the final addition of integrated visual effects and motion graphics. With over 250 tools for compositing, tracking, keying, 3D text, particle animation, and much more, Fusion offers numerous features for professional visual effects and motion graphics. According to Blackmagic Design, DaVinci Resolve is the first software application in the world to combine all relevant post-production tools.

DaVinci Resolve 15 at Panda Pictures
We at Panda Pictures recognized the potential of DaVinci Resolve early on. Accordingly, we have been using the software as a tool for the creative processing of our projects since version 10. The interaction between editing, color grading, and sound mixing—and now also VFX—within a single piece of software works brilliantly and is extremely time-saving.
Blackmagic Design has now released the full version of DaVinci Resolve 15. We will therefore be focusing more heavily on the powerful new Fusion tool, which will integrate perfectly into our projects to create outstanding visual effects and animations for our clients.
