In July 2017, Panda Pictures flew a film crew to the BMW plant currently under construction in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, to shoot a film about its development and the background of the plant's creation.
The film was intended to be a combination of corporate film with narrative scenes and a documentary about the history and development of the construction progress. To provide a glimpse into the future, the film was also to include 3D animation . These visualizations offer an early look into the BMW production halls that are currently still being built. From the very beginning, it was clear that this would not be an ordinary corporate film, but one that stands out from other productions.
The final film is just under 10 minutes long and presents information about the plant's creation in a highly multifaceted way. In addition to precise editing, the steps involved in post-production included tracking typography and compositing various image elements into the final shot. All these elements give the film a particularly modern and high-quality look.
The final touch was added to the image during color grading. The finished edit was color-corrected to visually link the characters and underscore the film's moods. Historical archive footage was also used and color-matched accordingly. Furthermore, the music, which was composed specifically for the film, is perfectly tailored to the content of the various scenes and provides the perfect emotional support.
An important component incorporated into the film's concept was the passionate collaboration that connects the Mexican and German employees. This creative synergy is also reflected in the languages featured in the film. Thanks to the harmonious and wonderful cooperation between the BMW employees of different nationalities, the plant in San Luis Potosí has a strong positive influence on the city itself and its residents. This mammoth project is a significant undertaking for many people. The essence of this team spirit ultimately made it into our finished film.
