Behind the production of every film today lies a considerable amount of visual diversity and creative richness. Where images are captured with a camera, they are edited together into a film cut. But to create new images that cannot be produced in a conventional way, one of the most important steps in digital film production is required – so-called compositing. In our case, the compositing for the OTC campaign by Ohropax.

Compositing – What does the term actually mean?
The compositing process describes the combining of two or more separately recorded images into a new image. The result is also known as a "visual effect." Visual effects are thus created from images and individual elements that cannot be achieved in a conventional way.
Different types of compositing
Basically, there are two approaches to compositing. The most common is "node-based," the other is "layer-based." The best-known tools for node-based compositing are programs such as Nuke from The Foundry or Fusion by Blackmagic Design. In contrast, Adobe After Effects, which is primarily used for creating motion graphics, is layer-based yet plays an increasingly significant role in compositing.
Creating virtual worlds – Ohropax compositing
For the Ohropax OTC campaign, Panda Pictures developed a brilliant concept to give the commercials a unique visual expressiveness. Individual elements were filmed and then digitally combined in post-production to create a fantastic illusion, ultimately letting the images speak for themselves.
A look into the future!
Whether for corporate films, commercials, music videos, or feature films – visual effects are ubiquitous today and have become indispensable. The diverse scope of compositing offers a world of creative possibilities for achieving visually stunning and flawless results.
