Silver Victoria now at Panda Pictures in Munich
The silver Prix Victoria has now taken its place as a new gem on our trophy shelf. We won this award in mid-May at the International Corporate Film Days in Vienna for our online video about the MARO dementia care home in Weilheim. At the awards ceremony on May 17, 2018, a total of 180 guests from the participating countries celebrated their achievements at the Austrian Economic Chamber. Our producer accepted the silver trophy in Vienna that same evening. Silver for Panda Pictures – we are incredibly proud!
It is a fantastic result that this rather local project made such an impact and was ultimately awarded a prize in the "Health and Medical Films" category at the International Corporate Film Days in Vienna. Even though it focuses on the dementia care home in Weilheim, the film ultimately addresses a very current and increasingly important topic. At Panda Pictures, we always enjoy the variety of projectswe get to be a part of. Whether it's major highlight productions for well-known companies or smaller passion projects, we work on every single one of our projects with passion.
MARO Cooperative
Our online video is the longer promotional film for our client MARO. In addition, a 25-second cinema spot was produced. While the cinema commercial was shown in cinemas in Weilheim and the surrounding area, the online promotional film was embedded on the MARO website and can also be seen on their YouTube channel.
MARO is a cooperative for self-determined and neighborly living. Since more and more people are interested in communal living arrangements, it is hardly surprising that existing forms of housing are adapting or new ones are emerging. This is what MARO we support municipalities as well as citizens of all ages in multi-generational housing, nursing care, or dementia shared-living arrangements. In our films, the relatives of residents at the Josef dementia shared-living home in Weilheim share their thoughts on the home and what life is like there.

For the film production it was very important to have as little impact as possible on the residents' daily routine. Therefore, careful planning and organization beforehand were essential. Prior to the shoot, we conducted a location scout and a meeting with the relatives. The goal was to clarify any open questions, discuss the shoot, and plan a preliminary schedule.
Reacting quickly and flexibly
For the promotional films a total of one shooting day was scheduled with a team of five. The team consisted of the director, a cameraman and his assistant, a sound technician, and our producer. Another special feature of the shoot was the use of a Steadicam. Although the daily routine was roughly planned in advance (having coffee together, singing, hanging up laundry...), it was important to us to be able to react flexibly and spontaneously. This allowed us to capture the most important and beautiful moments authentically. It also enabled us to move quickly from indoors to outdoors and accompany the residents throughout the day without constantly having to carry out major setup changes.
Throughout the day, we also filmed interviews with the relatives. These took place in a separate room with a selected background and specially arranged lighting. For this, we switched to a tripod. There was no scripted concept or scriptfor the interviews beforehand. We used a few interview questions that we had developed in advance with the MARO cooperative as a guide. Nevertheless, we made sure to react spontaneously to the relatives' answers during the interviews. It was important for us to see what emerged from the various conversations so that we could tell a compelling story with all the input at the end.
We are very proud to have implemented this project so successfully and to have been able to draw more attention to this important topic. We would like to take this opportunity to thank MARO, the residents, and their relatives once again for their fantastic support, cooperation, and the trust they placed in us.
