Bavarian State Ministry of the Environment and Consumer Protection (StMUV)

#ShowYourStripes

We produced the #ShowYourStripes campaign for the Bavarian Ministry of the Environment. A fast-paced social media spot that makes climate change visible.

Challenge

Imagine you are tasked with making a highly complex, abstract topic tangible for everyday life. That was exactly the challenge facing the Bavarian State Ministry of the Environment and Consumer Protection. The #ShowYourStripes campaign was to be launched for their central platform, Klima.bayern. You are likely familiar with the famous climate stripes by Prof. Ed Hawkins, which illustrate global warming through striking color gradients. The ministry had already branded clever everyday objects—from soccer balls and coffee mugs to an entire regional train—with this design.

The brief for our video production was clear: we needed a 30-second awareness spot for cinema and social media. The goal was not to lecture or point fingers, but to make a strong, iconic statement for climate protection. The original plan was to spark curiosity, grab attention in everyday settings, and inspire people to share this important message naturally.

Solution

As a modern film production company, we knew immediately that to anchor this message, we needed images that would stick in people's minds. During the concept phase, we opted for an extremely dynamic visual language. Using precise motion tracking in post-production, we kept the striped objects fixed in the center of the frame. When you watch the finished video, you notice how the world around the objects pulses rapidly, while the climate stripes remain in absolute focus.

The shoot demanded a lot from our team. We executed the campaign in the middle of winter over just two shooting days, plus one spectacular extra day on the Zugspitze. In freezing temperatures but brilliant, clear weather, we visited the Schneeferner Haus research station to get the perfect shots. Another highlight was filming the climate train near Garmisch: the drone shot was perfect on the very first attempt, just before sunrise—and, funnily enough, the Bavarian Minister-President was actually riding on that very train during the first take. For maximum flexibility during the fast-paced scenes at the Munich Victory Gate, we used a compact Blackmagic Pocket camera paired with handheld and gimbal setups. A real natural on set, by the way, was Ozzy, our producer Sarah's dog, who nailed his performance in the cargo bike immediately.

During editing and final color grading, we merged the body rig, vehicle, and drone footage into a gripping whole. The final outcome? In addition to the main film, we created three more punchy social media clips, including ones for the weather station and the train. Naturally, we also provided the client with the appropriate vertical versions for all platforms. The result is memorable, impactful, and impossible to miss.

„An absolute wow moment at the exclusive research station on the Zugspitze. The icy power of nature provided us with exactly the breathtaking shots that make this project so powerful."
