Vlog-style for TUM: How a modern recruitment film inspires all talent for IT and shows young women in particular that stereotypes are a thing of the past.
Challenge
Computer science is dry and just for guys? Think again! The Technical University of Munich approached us with a clear mission: they needed a modern recruitment film that would appeal to the masses of Gen Z while sending a crucial message: the IT industry is exactly the right place for young women. The video is intended as the centerpiece for school visits to show all students just how diverse and exciting a computer science degree really is.
The biggest challenge with this brief? The topic of IT had to avoid feeling boring at all costs; instead, it needed to be conveyed in a cool, casual, and humorous way. The university wanted an inspiring journey through the tech world that breaks down old stereotypes and specifically motivates girls to recognize and develop their own potential in information technology.
Solution
To hit that relatable Gen Z vibe, we consciously chose an authentic vlog style for the concept of this film production . Our engaging protagonist took us on a dynamic tour through the coolest rooms and hallways of the university during an intensive day of shooting. Since almost all shots were planned as walk-and-talk scenes—where the actor walks in front of the camera and speaks directly to you—we needed the perfect technical setup. For this video production , we used an FX-3 camera on a gimbal, mounted in a ring grip on an Easy-Rig. This kept the footage extremely smooth and high-quality despite the constant movement.
In addition to the fast-paced campus tour, we enriched the video with short, inspiring interviews with people on-site to provide genuine insights. The final outcome is a captivating main film in 16:9 format and a punchy short version in 9:16 format. After a dynamic edit , the result is a recruitment film that is incredibly motivating and proves to you immediately: the IT world is colorful, modern, and ready for all new talent.
