Challenge

Diversity and intercultural exchange are becoming increasingly important. As a result, colleges and universities are offering more and more opportunities for their own students, as well as those from partner universities, to include a semester abroad in their studies. In the testimonials for Munich University of Applied Sciences , three students from different degree programs were interviewed. The testimonials reflect the impression the university makes on its own students. They explain why their studies at Munich University of Applied Sciences prepared them well for their professional lives and what they particularly value about the institution.

As Svenja explains in her video, these clips are intended to alleviate any "fear" or concerns about studying abroad. As she also points out, it will never be this easy to meet new people and grow personally again. Furthermore, Augustine and Kseniia prove that exchange students are very welcome at the university and will have a great time there. Their satisfaction is clearly evident in these videos and is intended to appeal to those who need a point of contact for these topics or who would like to draw on the experience of others. It was also a particular priority here to let the students themselves speak, rather than using narrators or representatives. The testimonials not only show the students and their perspectives, but also the campus and the unique features of Munich University of Applied Sciences.

Solution

To ensure a highly authentic feel and build a connection between the students and the viewers, we avoided a rigid interview atmosphere and held the shoot on campus instead. This also allowed us to film with the autumnal available light from various perspectives, including close-ups, which not only created a welcoming atmosphere but also provided a glimpse into the university campus and the city of Munich . This type of communication is becoming increasingly important for colleges, universities, and other institutions to provide impactful insights. Additionally, the videos were produced in English to reach the widest possible audience and to reflect the university's diversity and intercultural values.

Through animated lower thirds, an additional sense of closeness is created between the students and the audience. Viewers learn not only the students' names but also their home countries or the locations of their semesters abroad, further emphasizing the theme of diversity.
